March 21-30

Evie is determined to grow up faster than what I might be prepared for. She desperately wants to roll over from her back to her belly. Her attempts are getting closer, but she hasn't yet got the strength to get over her bottom arm. She pushes herself to the point where she is huffing for breath and "eh, ehing" with exasperation. I always cave and give her a boost before she ever gives up. I give her an A+ for effort. Her most surprising new feat is her desire to stand. She has little interest in being on her back, belly or bottom and only really wants to be up on her feet. While helping her stand, I realized that she was requiring only my assistance for balance and was supporting her weight entirely on her own. I was also surprise by the amount of balance she does have with relatively little wobbling.

Evie went on her first road trip last Saturday. We went to Easton, PA to see our friends Jim & Patty Bielenberg and their 2 kids, Rachel (3 yo) & Andy (5 mo). We spent the day enjoying their backyard, lounging in their sun soaked home and watching tournament basketball. Erik and Jim had a toast to their new babies while Patty and I traded stories. With the exception of a GPS glitch that sent us on a brief tour of lovely downtown Newark, the day was seamless.

Evie had a very busy day in Easton. She got to meet Rachel and Andy, play with Andy's toys and saw her first cats. She was a very tired baby by the time we got home.

Evie got the most adorable hat and barrette from her Aunt Kim. I thought it was fitting for Evie to wear the hat with her Kentucky Derby onesie.

Lately, one hand just won't suffice.

Evie has started sitting in her Bumbo seat.
