Evie Takes Manhattan

To celebrate my first Mother's Day, Erik treated us to a weekend at a hotel in Manhattan. We stayed just off Columbus Circle and the southwest corner of Central Park. This was Evie's first trip back to the city since we left the hospital after her birth. Evie and I seldom leave the neighborhood as everything we need is within walking distance from the apartment. It was great to get out and see the city up close for a bit. It's always a reminder of how quiet and laid back our little corner of Brooklyn is.

Here are some photos from the balcony of our room on 58th Street. Our room ended up looking into the CNN headquarters which showed the reflection of the Hearst Building behind us. We had a view of the park and the Upper East Side from the hotel's roof deck.

Always eager to see some green, we spent the majority of Saturday at Central Park. We were lucky to have great weather, with the exception of some Nebraska-like, 50mph wind gusts. Here are a few photos of us in the park and some the sites we saw along the way.

Here are a couple of random videos we took one night at the hotel. The first is of us getting Evie to giggle and the next is of her making some talking sounds.

  2. Hi all...What a nice weekend! And thanks for sharing your times with us. We look forward so much to your blogs and your short but very descriptive explanations of what is going on in your lives. You have such a beautiful little girl and you are very considerate and creative parents. Again, thanks for sharing.
